School for Overweight Teens

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Kathryn Martyn, M.NLP Getting Kids Moving - Help for Overweight Teens A residential school program for overweight teens comes with a hefty price tag (some in excess of $5,000 per month). These programs rely on the same formula for weight loss as is commonly recommended; strict eating guidelines and increased activities. In other words, better nutrition and exercise. Hopefully some counseling is offered, and college prep courses are usually on the curriculum, but what about those kids? Are they getting a realistic head-start on a lifetime of healthier habits or are they simply doing what they are told, only to be fed to the wolves when they leave the safe environment of the school? I tried to find stories of teens who had successfully completed these programs and gone on to healthy lives, and came up empty. If you are one or know of someone who’s been through one of these live-in school/weight loss programs, please drop me a line. I’d love to hear a success story. If you want to be everything you can for your kids, here are ideas for getting them (and you) up and moving again. Exercise Should be Fun Get your child interested in some type of exercise activity, whether indoor or outdoor by helping them discover what they prefer to do. What about bike riding or hiking with a GPS (hand-held Global Positioning Satellite unit). If you like the outdoors, Geocaching sounds like enormous fun and anyone can do it. Adults are reporting losing 20, 30 or more pounds while they are out exploring the woods and hills in their surrounding area. Learning to use a GPS is also educational and helps kids learn math, science and physics while they’re losing some pounds at the same time. You may find some Geocaching sites in your area. I searched on the Internet and discovered there was a Geocache not 200 yards from my house! What’s a Geocache? It’s a “treasure” of sorts. One person puts a small package or box somewhere, out of sight, then lists the location via GPS. Using a GPS device you look for and attempt to locate the caches. Once you find one you may leave a note or mark that you were there, and then you return the cache to its hiding place for the next person to find. It’s not about taking the cache, it’s about locating it. Get your kids to a martial arts class, if they are at all interested. Martial arts teaches kids discipline, respect for authority and builds their self esteem and confidence, plus it teaches self defense. Frankly, I’m starting to think about taking some type of martial arts myself. Perhaps Tai Chi or some other gentle movement practice. Any activity you find for your kids may also turn into your favorite activity as well, and what if you could do it with your kids? That can be the best of all. Talk to your kids to discover what activities they may be interested in, and explore the options together My son is a good example. He was never over weight but at around 13-years old his skin tone was flabby. He didn’t go outside much, preferring to play Nintendo or watch TV, and since he was an excellent student, I didn’t push him to go outside more often. Luckily neighborhood kids invited him to play football one day, and today five years later he’s in excellent physical shape, has confidence a mile high, and he was just honored by winning the “Program Award” which the coach explained is granted to the one player he’d choose, “If I had to pick just one as the most outstanding overall.” I have no worries that he’ll continue with a healthier lifestyle from this point forward. Before he took up football we bought him an expensive bike which was rarely used. He also has a skate board, a mini-scooter, and a pogo stick. We tried karate (he broke his wrist so had to quit, and then didn’t want to resume), he likes Paintball. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right thing but nearly everyone will feel better when they find a physical activity they like. Exercise isn’t just sit ups and push ups. It’s anything you do that includes movement. No matter where you live get out the phone book and search for indoor and outdoor activities in your town, or use the Internet and search for “indoor sports” along with your city’s name. I found listings for Vancouver Parks & Recreation, Vancouver Indoor Sports and a site on Sports Walking with a search for “indoor sports Vancouver Washington” (without the quotes). Can Video Games Help with Weight Loss? Video games can help with losing weight. Just ask Tanya Jessen who lost 95 pounds, Matt Keene who lost 150 pounds, or Tim Mitchell who lost 50 pounds over a few months time about DDR (Dance Dance Revolution), a video dancing game. Learning the steps is the challenge and since you’re moving while you play (dancing really), so you or your kids gain skill at the game while also gaining excellent physical shape and hand-eye coordination at the same time. There are DDR clubs all around the world and many web sites devoted to the play and practice including www.getupmove.com. Another exciting new game is called Yourself!Fitness. It’s an XBox game with a PC version due early December 2004 and a PlayStation version in January 2005. Visit www.yourselfFitness.com. Yourself!Fitness includes a virtual trainer called Maya who takes you through your paces with hundreds of exercises from weight lifting to yoga. Finding something your kids will enjoy that keeps them active is all it takes, and if they are reluctant, once their blood starts pumping they’ll get much more enthusiastic. Games that incorporate a skill that’s built up over time are excellent for increasing your child’s self esteem, and with you along side, looking clumsy too, helps them see we all have to start at the beginning. You may just find something you love too. Don’t be afraid to try a few different activities before you find the right fit. The money you spend on equipment, games or lessons will be saved in less spent on junk food, soft drinks and medical bills down the road. Get up and get moving and your kids will naturally follow your lead. Not everyone can afford to send their kids to a residential program, so design a program yourself, right in your own home. Switch from chips and cookies to fruits and vegetables for snacks, and above all get up and get moving! ~~ Kathryn Martyn, Master NLP Practitioner, EFT counselor, author of the free e-book: Changing Beliefs, Your First Step to Permanent Weight Loss, and owner of OneMoreBite-Weightloss.com Get The Daily Bites: Inspirational Mini Lessons Using EFT and NLP for Ending the Struggle with Weight Loss Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Kathryn_Martyn,_M.NLP http://EzineArticles.com/?School-for-Overweight-Teens&id=6402 skiney before white way pussy another free take mon as son there incest after stories than shaved be fuck while pussy for girls only high because school over soccer at rankings you

Getting a Car Loan in New York

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=J.A._Hale]J.A. Hale Getting a car loan in New York can be tricky if you do not follow the steps in the right order. One thing that you need to be aware of especially is the fact that before you can get a car loan in New York, you will need to show proof of auto insurance. It may seem like putting the cart before the horse, but in New York, you pretty much need the car insured before you can actually buy it. This is because if you purchase a car with a loan, New York law requires the dealer to handle the titling and registration for you. And before you can register your car in New York, you have to have proof of insurance. Be aware that when the dealer handles all of the necessary steps to getting your registration and titling, many of them will charge you the additional fees above and beyond the amount of your loan. Some will roll these charges into your car loan, and others will allow you to arrange to pay the expenses out of pocket. Here are some other steps to follow when getting a car loan in New York: 1. Shop around for the best interest rates on your car loan. Dealers usually do not have the best interest rates. You can usually get a better rate from a bank or credit union. 2. If you are responding to a special financing offer in an ad, bring the ad in with you to show the dealer. If you have poor credit, you are not likely to get the advertised rate, but you might be able to negotiate a lower rate than the dealer is initially willing to give you. 3. Dont pay more for a factory-ordered car than for one already sitting on the premises. 4. If you get a car loan to buy a vehicle from a private seller, be aware of the needed documents you will have to submit to have the car property registered: Proof of insurance (New York State Insurance ID Card) Proof that you own the car Documentation of your identity, and separate documentation of your birthdate Damage and odometer disclosure statements A special form: Form MV-82 Enough money to cover all of the fees that will be assessed (title certificate fee, property tax, registration fee, plates, automobile use tax, any transfer fees that may be necessary, sales tax) Proof of sales tax paid, sales tax exemption (if already paid) or the purchase price (so that the DMV can assess how much sales tax you owe. Substitute For Popular Bonsai Species In Cold Climate

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Patrick Desnoyers Bonsai culture offers the greatest and most beautiful tree species on this planet. Since bonsai originate from asia, most likely from China and Japan, the most popular trees are originating from this region. Doing bonsai elsewhere in the world can be tricky. If your climate doesnt match the climate in Japan, you may not be able to grow successfully some of the most popular species. Your temperature range could be too cold in winter or too hot in summer. The best examples are the tropical species that cannot be grown year long in the northern climate unless you have the proper setup indoor or the winter could be too cold for hardy species. Rest assure, nothing is lost. Many tree species originating from certain region or growing locally can be great substitute for a bonsai candidate. The most praised maple is without a doubt the trident maple. (Acer buergerianum) This specie is cold hardy to USDA zone 5 which is around minus 27 celsius. In Canada, the winters are getting harsher temperature. A great substitute would be the Amur maple (Acer Ginnala) which is cold hardy to USDA zone 2, minus 45 celsius. This species is a great replacement since it is very cold hardy, possesses small trilobed leaves and is a fast grower. Other species liked from bonsai enthusiast are the Japanese pines. But, once again, cold can be a disadvantage. To the rescue comes the mugho pine. This pine will tolerate some very cold temperature plus it is a very tough plant tolerating many bonsai mistake. The mugho pine needles can be reduced much like the Japanese counterpart plus it displays a textured bark. Another popular specie is the Chinese elm (ulmus parvifolia) but once again, cold is hard on this specie. For a replacement, the less known Siberian elm (ulmus pumila) can be as beautiful as the chinese one. Much like the Chinese elm, the Siberian elm as twiggy branching, grows fast and leaves are reducing well with proper technique. Some others tree species are the American or tamarack larch (Larix Laricina) for an evergreen, the sargeant crabapple (malus sargentii) for a flowering and fruit producing tree or the European birch (betula pendula) for a broadleaf tree. These all displays beautiful characteristics. For instance, the American larch is the only evergreen to loose its needles when fall show itself, the needles will turn from green to yellow for a few weeks before shedding. The sargeant crabapple will give you some nice white to pink flowers in spring and produce red fruit in autumn. The European birch as a nice white paperish bark that peel itself easily. Plus all these are moderate to fast growing tree that would yield a nice bonsai in a few years. Avid full time hobby bonsai grower. As been practicing bonsai and gardening for more then 8 years. Leave It All to Have It All

By Esther Smith The US is in the middle of a serious workforce change. Home-based businesses are now recognized as a viable source of new jobs. If it continues as expected, the new American workplace will be located in the spare bedroom or converted garage. Its no surprise then, that the home business movement of 2005 has received more attention from the recession-that-isnt-a-recession downturn. Todays laid off workers are not the blue-collar workers in manufacturing jobs; those have long since been shifted to China. Today, prized engineers and corporate Vice Presidents of such-and-such have been sent to the bone yard. Of course today we dont lay off our employees, we down-size; it seems to be a kinder verb. However you look at it, Joe Citizen is fed up and he isnt going to take it anymore. Most are leaving their private offices with an accrued vacation and sick leave pay, and a hefty 401k account. Prime targets for the online Marketer!! Its my guess when they empty their desks and fill a cardboard box with their personal items, it will be the last time they labor someone elses dream. That if any good is to come of this disaster; it will be the sweet revenge of self-employment. Often turning points in ones life are marked with discovery and challenge. The path we thought was the right one, changes at the crossroads and you suddenly step into new territory with a new determination filling your very soul as another door closes behind you. You dont have to be a prized engineer to begin your Internet search for your new home-business. There are five points I used when making mine, and I dont mind sharing them with my readers. 1) Credentials find a business listed in the BBB, DSA, or Dun & Bradstreet. Make your requirements one that has been in business for over 10 years. 2) Product a company with a product that people want and need. Set your mark at about 55 million people who would benefit from this product. 3) Compensation if it isnt jaw-dropping, why bother? The secret here is in the residual income look for the biggies; theyre out there! 4) Training together with support and a system to follow; this sets you up for a long term work from home career. 5) Concept Im for high priced sales items and no telemarketing. No cold calls and no splitting my earnings with others. Independent Distributor would be an example, with a simple formula that can be duplicated over and over. Not all people morphing to home businesses are prized engineers or ex-VIPs of big corporations. They include everyday workers tired of alarm clocks, traffic jams, and psychotic bosses. A bar manager sick of Tuesdays off airline mechanics unwilling to take a 25% cut in pay ER interns on 24 hr shifts doctors taking down their shingles because of mal-practice insurance costs teachers looking at dismal long-term retirement estimates. They are leaving it all to have it all! Once dominated by the young, highly-driven, techie-oriented entrepreneurs, the home based business is quickly being taken over by those who happen to be in their 50s, 60s and 70s. The graying of small business is one of the nine major trends of 2005. By accident or design, people tend to retire earlier and paradoxically, they continue to work after retirement. Joining the great myths of history is the old-time belief: if we go to school, get a good education and a job with a solid company, we will be set for life. Today, the changing of social trends will allow a small home-based business the same reach and capabilities as their larger competitors. This is thanks to PCs, the Internet, increasing phone systems, fax machines and satellite systems. All you need to add is a desire to change and a willingness to work as you learn new skills. 2005 Esther Smith About the author: Smith publishes a syndicated Newsletter every Sunday, subscribe here: http://quikonnex.com/channel/page/esmith and is a member of the Profit Masters Team http://www.exec-lifestyle.biz Creating wealth is fun if there is no struggle attached to it. Russian Brides - Who Are They?

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

By Tanya Turner In recent years, thousands of young Russian and Ukrainian women have come to the USA and European countries by means of marriage and were unkindly labeled Russian mail-order brides. But who are these women, really? Why are they prepared to leave everything behind, to go to an unknown country and live with an unknown man? Can a Russian bride really be a good solution for a Western man? We will attempt to demystify the phenomenon of mail-order-brides. Why do Russian women want to marry foreigners? There are thousands of dating services featuring young, beautiful Russian women who are looking for Western husbands. There are so many women that it might seem all of the young females in Russia have decided to leave their country. This is only an illusion, though. Russia and Ukraine are very big countries with huge populations, and women who are searching for husbands abroad represent less than 0.01% of all single Russian women. The girls who place their ads with dating services, hoping to find a husband in the USA or Europe, have various reasons to do so. The most common reason is that they have heard from friends and the media that Western men treat women better than Russian men do. They have heard that drinking isnt such a problem in these Western countries as it is in Russia, and that men actually care for their families. So, the common perception that mail-order brides are searching for a better lifestyle isnt quite right. In reality, they are searching for a better man than they can get in Russia or Ukraine. See more information about single Russian women who are looking for Western husbands. What makes Western men to look for a Russian bride? At first glance, it might seem very strange that so many men are prepared to spend thousands, to bring a foreign wife to their country and struggle with all the differences of language and culture. Wouldnt it be easier to find a decent wife at home? Western men have many reasons, to look for Russian wives: Some are fascinated by Russian culture and want a partner who would not only share this fascination, but actually be a part of this culture Some are middle-aged men, who were unhappy in a previous relationship but are prepared to try again, with a lady who is still young enough to have children. As you know, in Western culture marriages with age differences of 5 years, or more, are not common; so, if a man were 45-50, he would be unlikely to find a partner under 40 years of age, in his own country And some are men who, for one reason or another, are dissatisfied with the women in their own country. Russian women are less materialistic, more traditional and feminine than their Western sisters, and this type of a lady appeals to many men. What is the success rate can finding a wife from Russia can really work for a western man? It works for many men: there are thousands of Russian-Western couples that are very happy together. There are unhappy ones as well, though, and the usual causes are: a lady cant adjust to a life in a new country; both partners had unrealistic expectations before marriage; or they cant work through their cultural differences, so mutual understanding is never achieved. While working with many Russian-Western couples I noticed a pattern, though: happily married men are usually the ones who were not looking for a Russian bride, but for a partner to live with. They also learned a lot about Russian culture and traditions and put some effort into making their lady feel happy and welcome in her new home. If a man is prepared to work through the minor difficulties, starting a family with a Russian woman can be very rewarding. If you are looking for a Russian lady it is very important to collect as much information as possible about her and her culture. You will find useful a free e-book Russian Women Secrets This book is a step-by-step guide to finding a beautiful Russian woman, who are interested in love and marriage. Chiropractic Marketing - A ‘Must-Know’ Lesson For Chiropractors From Bill Gates

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By Todd Brown Bill was once quoted as saying something along the lines of,”Microsoft has had lots of competitors over the years. It’s agood thing we have museums to record those moments in history.” Ouch. Not a good thing to think about if you were one of thosecompetitors, that’s for sure. But, you certainly don’t need to be a competitor of Microsoft tofeel the sting of business competition. With the quantity of chiropractors in practice today, and thequantity of new doctors coming into the profession every year,I’m sure you’d agree, it’s a pretty darn crowded and competitivechiropractic marketplace out there. The number of shrinking incomes and struggling doctors, certainlyconfirms that. So, how do you go about being on the winning side… the successside… of chiropractic business competition, instead of on thelosing, struggling side? 2 ways… 1. DIFFERENTIATION. 2. USING YOUR PRACTICE METRICS PROPERLY. Let’s talk about differentiation first. In order to excel in a crowded profession, you must be able toshow prospective patients and active patients what makes you andchiropractic care in your office different from what every otherdoctor or chiropractic office is offering. Mainly, you must offer patients benefits and unique value theycan’t get from one of the other local doctors competing withyou. And, if you really want to protect your practice and income fromcurrent competition and any future competition, you must learnhow to position your chiropractic practice uniquely in the mindof consumers. In other words, you’ve got to learn how, through your marketing,to have prospective chiropractic patients view your chiropracticpractice compared to others, as if comparing apples to oranges. This only happens when you take proactive action to create thatdifferentiated, unique positioning through your patientacquisition and retention methods. And, here’s where your practice metrics come in… Plain and simple, the only way to rapidly grow a chiropracticpractice (and sustain it) is to understand and manage your keypractice metrics (measurements/numbers). Just like acquiring wealth and becoming financially free is allabout properly managing and measuring certain numbers (i.e. yourbank balance, your income, your expenses, etc.). The same appliesto your chiropractic success. Sadly, most chiropractic schools never teach this concept tograduating docs. New chiropractors then go into an insanely competitivemarketplace, with tons of practicing chiropractors, struggle tobuild their practices, and end up tremendously frustrated. Can you blame them? I certainly can’t. How Reliable are Cell Phones

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=S._Housley]S. Housley Cellular phones and pagers are part of the “now” generation, instant contact, anywhere at any time. People are looking for convenience, comfort and security. The question is how instantaneous and reliable is the contact? Talking with someone is the main use for a cell phone, yet due to poor reception how often do calls not go through, or important calls “dropped” due to flaky coverage? Let us not forget, that in a time of tragedy, lines were congested and the resounding “all circuits busy” messages were heard from coast to coast. There is certainly room for improvement if you want to reach out and touch someone. The alternative to voice communication is traditional text messaging, enjoyed by the young as SMS, a ‘hip’ communication method, and the older as the tried and true paging, a trustworthy means of communication. A carrier receives pages or text messages via a traditional dial up modem or Internet connection to their terminal, and then broadcasts the messages over their network to the appropriate wireless device. How instant is sending a text message? The answer might surprise you…it depends. Traditional means of sending text messages is surprisingly reliable and fast. However, many cellular carriers, wishing to merge technologies while keeping costs down, have opted to utilize email technology to send text messages. Why not, an email is nothing more than a text message, using the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). On the surface this sounds like a great idea, nearly everyone has email access, and the use of the Internet streamlines the sending of messages. What is often overlooked, is the fact that email was not designed to be time sensitive. There can be significant delays and an instantaneous receipt can be lost when sending email to a pager or cell phone. Text messages sent via the email protocol SMTP could take a more scenic delivery route. While in many cases, receiving messages in a timely fashion is not critical; some industries require and benefit from the receipt of urgent messages. It is therefore important to realize and make a distinction between the protocols that are designed for instantaneous communication and those that are not. If sending messages immediately to a cell phone or pager is required, more reliable protocols are available. When sending text messages, via a modem, the Telocator Alphanumeric Protocol (TAP) is extremely dependable, albeit slower due to the modem dialing. If sending messages with a high-speed Internet connection use the newer time sensitive Internet protocols: Simple Network Paging Protocol (SNPP) and Wireless Communication Transfer Protocol (WCTP). If your carrier supports these protocols they are the better options for sending important messages. If carriers understand the “now” generation is about speed and reliability, customer satisfaction will improve. Text messaging is a reliable and useful communication method, especially since voice is not always convenient or possible. With public awareness and urging, carriers will increase their offerings of text messaging protocols. Carriers should offer email or SMTP, but they must also support time sensitive protocols, regardless, of whether the protocols are older such as TAP or newer such as WCTP.
